You may not know it, but only 5% of Hollywood features are directed by women!! That is shocking & embarrasing for a country that claims to have equality for women in the workplace. In order to change the perception of women around this globe we must have more women making films. Film directors are culture creators for the globe. Don't let apathy get you! Don't get convinced that women should only make small arthouse & women topic movies. That's such a pre-1970's notion. We can make top grossing films! This is an important issue to tackle for true equality.

In Video Podcast #9, we interview Canadian-based Indian Director Deepa Mehta. She directed the 2007 Oscar-Nominated feature WATER and many other acclaimed films such as EARTH and also FIRE. She tells incredible stories of how 2,000 Hindu protestors stormed and burnt down her film set eventually destroying it and tossing it to the Ganges River. Eventually, Mehta put the pieces back together and made this incredibly moving film WATER (2005) following the journey of a 7 year old girl who’s just lost her husband.
