Interview Podcast with MoviesByWomen.com on location at the AFI Film Festival 2008.  This piece originally “aired” the day of the film’s screening November 8, 2008 and took place in the Tropicana Poolside Bar at the infamous Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood, CA.

Podcast #17: Join us poolside at AFI Film Festival 2008 with the award-winning film A Quiet Little Marriage and director Mo Perkins, actors Cy Carter and Mary Elizabeth Ellis for their West Coast premiere.  Listen to this first time feature filmmaker chat with Host Tara Veneruso about her unique techniques she used in the writing process, the importance of building a community,
and the awful truth about Alzheimers.

This Audience Award winning film (NARRATIVE FEATURE COMPETITION, AUSTIN FILM FESTIVAL 2008) is the debut feature film for writer/director Mo Perkins.  The film includes a remarkable group of actors from the acclaimed new TV show IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA, Cy Carter (Dax) and Mary Elizabeth Ellis (Olive), play the young married couple enduring  A QUIET LITTLE MARRIAGE.  (Link to filmmaker’s website).

This powerful female line-up also stars ensemble actors Jimmi Simpson (MY NAME IS EARL, 24), Michael O’Neill (THE WEST WING), Rita Taggart (MULHOLLAND DRIVE), Lucy DeVito (DIRT, IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA), Charlie Day (IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA), Melanie Lynskey (HEAVENLY CREATURES, TWO AND A HALF MEN), Ian McConnel (MONSTER HOUSE), and Charlotte Chanler and is produced by Tamara May Maloney, Angela Sostre, and Hal Haberman.

ABOUT THE FILM: QUIET LITTLE MARRIAGE is the vibrant modern love story of Dax and Olive - who juggle family, romance and intimacy, and discover that commitment does not come without unexpected land mines.  Reminiscent of the visceral films of John Cassavetes, with finely crafted performances from the film’s ensemble cast (many of whom are regulars on TV’s acclaimed show IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA), writer/director Mo Perkins’ intense and profound, raw feature debut is laced with sly humor, exquisitely rendered characters, and a pitch-perfect emotional honesty.
