Asian Film Week @ MoviesByWomen
This week we are celebrating a week of Asian films. Later this weekend we’ll be posting our latest podcast on Asian Cinema in Los Angeles. So Come Back Very Soon.
Here’s a film pick for you sent in by a reader: Dear FIRST WEEKENDERS GROUP, My company CAVU Pictures is distributing the award-winning indie film TAKE OUT in theaters nationwide this summer, beginning in NY at the Quad Cinemas on June 6th. The film was co-directed by an Asian-American female director Shih-Ching Tsou. I would like to submit this film to you for inclusion on your website. TAKE OUT is a day-in-the-life of Ming Ding, an illegal Chinese immigrant working as a deliveryman for a Chinese take-out shop in New York City. TAKE OUT premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival, won the Grand Jury prize at the Nashville Film Festival, the Regal Cinemas Dreammaker Award, and has played in over 30 film festivals to date. You can watch the film’s 2 minute theatrical trailer on Apple’s Site.
The film’s official website is: www.TakeOutTheMovie.com
Sign up for the First Weekenders Group (View the page) so you’ll know the latest films directed by women that are in the theater this week. By supporting these films at the box office you can help more women stay in the director’s chair.
