Podcast #10: This week in the MoviesByWomen audio podcast 10: In Episode 10, hosts Tara Veneruso, Stephanie Young, Lucy Rodriguez Watson, and Heidi Martinuzzi chat with Chela Johnson, VP of Marketing at Lionsgate.

This is a super fun and informative podcast. Chela shares her career path (from an assistant at Artisan to VP of Marketing at Lionsgate), she gives us an insight on distribution both theatrical and home entertainment (DVD). We discuss DVD featurettes including commentaries and making of features on a DVD. The most valuable piece of information: If you’re even thinking of shooting a movie – start thinking about the featurettes for your DVD release.

The discussion on featurettes and making of on DVDs sparks a debate of sorts.
Lucy feels that after watching the making of or a commentary of a bad film, she usually appreciates the film because of all the work that went into it .Stephanie thinks that the point of a good movie is not to have it explained to you. Take a listen and tell us what
you think.

As we discuss horror movies the conversation turns to British food (maybe it’s the blood sausage, the spotted dick and the blood pudding). Heidi and Chela give an educated guess as to why things that are not pudding are called pudding. Check out the end of each podcast for more on British food with Rick and Tara.

One of our hit list items (The Business of Being Born) sparks a conversation about giving birth at home, in a bathtub vs. the hospital. Tara is uncomfortable with the idea of having a baby in a regular bathtub (she has a slight case of OCD), Heidi is afraid that the baby would drown. The film trails a Manhattan midwife who brings a special pool for the delivery, so no worries for Tara and Heidi.
