2007-08 Sundance Institute Presents ‘Hear and Now’ on March 5th

February 28th, 2008 by Heidi Martinuzzi

In this deeply personal memoir, filmmaker Irene Taylor Brodsky documents her deaf parents’ complex decision to end 65 years of silence and undergo the risky and controversial medical procedure of cochlear implant surgery. Though they met as children, fell in love, were married, raised a family, and have been active and accomplished members of the deaf community, Paul and Sally Taylor decided that they wanted to hear everything from their children’s voices to their first symphonies; they wanted simply to hear. Hear and Now invites us to experience what it means to be deaf and explores how our means of communication shapes our relationships with loved ones and with the world at large in myriad and nuanced ways.
Director Irene Taylor Brodsky will attend the screening and take questions from the audience following

Park City Library, 7:00 pm
