Film and Technology - Site Sharing

February 25th, 2008 by Tara Veneruso

As the founder of MoviesbyWomen.com and a director myself I want to welcome you to our blog if you are new to it.  First, I want to thank Rick Tait from 1245Vine Industries for creating this blog for us and getting our site all updated and running smoothly.   My main goal with this blog is to have our podcast listeners visit this blog to read updates and the latest and greatest.  I also have a vision of a conversation with our listeners getting sparked here and continuing in our discussion forums such as the discussion about the upcoming podcast #12 on Amy Heckerling’s film and the political storm for “I Could Never Be Your Woman”.  There are so many things we are excited to share with you.

We’ve also been adding new articles to our main site and I’ll be adding them very soon.  A few journalists have been approaching us to place their articles here.  I think it’s fantastic to provide this resource for our readers.   We’d love to know more about you and your interests.  Specifically, we’d love to know what you are enjoying in our audio podcasts and topics you’d like to suggest for upcoming episodes.  We look forward to your thoughts.   - Thanks from Tara Veneruso

Here are some sites that combine film and technology that you should absolutely check out:  (3 sites  recommended) http://cinematech.blogspot.com/  - there’s a current article about the Oscar Visual FX Nominees but this site is also traditionally a very good site for the latest on technical + cinema.

http://revver.com/ - a video sharing network. Fascinating concept.

http://workbookproject.com/ - an open source social experiment for content creators.  This is one of my favorite sites.  It’s got great articles such as why films need websites.  Really great.  We’re preparing a few more of our podcasts to be about some of these topics covered on this site.  I love the idea of sharing info with filmmakers about how to get their sites built and the tech side of filmmaking.  I’m fortunate that I’m always around highly technical people and I live for it.  I can’t imagine not being able to build my own site - but it is also such a major distraction from filmmaking and I respect all filmmakers who don’t want to spend the time to learn.  I really do - that wasn’t sarcastic.  Email 1245Vine Industries if you need a website for your film.

Thanks for listening, reading, and watching the MoviesByWomencom podcast Channel.

This site is shaping up to be nothing short of great. I think it’s an amazing idea to promote more women in the film industry and networking/blogging is a great way to find people with similar goals. keep up the great work!!
